Barcelona calls for Bath NC

17 May 2018

Swimmers from Bath National Centre will be heading to Spain next month for the Barcelona leg of the Mare Nostrum Series.

For some of the athletes, it will be the first major test following Gold Coast 2018 back in April and the nine-strong squad will include Siobhan-Marie O'Connor who defended her 200m Individual Medley Commonwealth title down under.

The Mare Nostrum swimming circuit is made up of three meetings staged around the Mediterranean. Other British based swimmers will also compete in earlier stages of the series which kicks off in Canet, France (9-10 June) before moving on to Barcelona and then concluding in Monaco (16-17 June).

The competition series attracts some of the continents best swimmers and is another vital opportunity for British athletes competing at this summers European Championships to test their races process and fine tune skills ahead of travelling to Glasgow in August.

The competition will take place on June 13 and 14, with a Bath squad made up of:

Georgia Coates

Tom Derbyshire

Jess Fullalove

James Guy

Calum Jarvis

Tom Kingham

Cameron Kurle

Siobhan Marie O'Connor

Chloe Tutton
