Burnell secures European Silver

Jack Burnell secured a hard-fought silver in the Men’s 10km marathon race at the LEN European Championships in Hoorn, Netherlands.

In his final outing ahead of travelling to Rio for the Olympic Marathon event Burnell placed himself on the podium in the second race on the opening day of the Championships. 

He finished ahead of France’s Antoine Marc Olivier who took the bronze medal and behind Ferry Weertman of the Netherlands.

British team mate Caleb Hughes also secured a top 10 finish, he ranked sixth after the 10km swim. Earlier in the day Danielle Huskisson finished eighth in the Women’s 10km race.
