ISL Naples goes down to the wire

14 Oct 2019

After two sessions in front of a packed out Piscina Felipe Scandone crowd, an Energy Standard team featuring Ben Proud, Georgia Davies and Imogen Clark clinched the win.

Naples hosted the debut European match of the International Swimming League, with the same four teams that competed in Indianapolis once again going head to head.

Imogen Clark produced a set of solid swims to repeat her third place results in the Women’s 50m Breaststroke and 4x100m Medley Relay from the previous weekend, whilst teammate Georgia Davies secured points for the club across both Backstroke and Relay disciplines.

Having contributed a third place Men’s 50m Freestyle for the team on Saturday evening, Ben Proud stepped up again for the closing Skins race of the fixture to help tip the club standings in Energy Standards favour, another third position enough to round off a narrow two and a half point victory over the Cali Condors.

Mark Szaranek supported the cause of the Condors title challenge with a second place finish in the Men’s 400m Individual Medley, whilst Hannah Miley competed for Aqua Centurions in the Women’s Individual Medley events as they finished just half a point behind DC trident in fourth.

The International Swimming League continues this weekend in Dallas with London Roar, New York Breakers, Iron and LA Current beginning their campaigns.

Final Club Standings, Naples:

  • Energy Standard, 493.0
  • Cali Condors, 490.5
  • DC Trident, 322.0
  • Aqua Centurions, 321.5
