Payne wins Rio 2016 Test Event

Former World Champion Keri-anne Payne has won the Rio 2016 Olympic Games Test Event for Marathon swimming that took place along the Copacobana Beach shoreline.

Payne, who won silver at the Beijing 2008 Olympics, impressed to show her talent to take the gold medal in Rio for the 10km Marathon swimming Test Event.

The weekend of competition kicked off with the men's race on 22 August where Jack Burnell finished in seventh place.

Payne was competing in a 15-strong field which included World Champion Aurelie Muller (FRA) and world bronze medallist Ana Mercela Cunha (BRA) and showed her strength to take the victory.
