Adam Peaty smashed his own World Record at tonight's Glasgow 2018 with a 57.00 in the 100m breaststroke final.
Team mate James Wilby was held into silver medal position as Peaty dominated the field.
The 23-year-old said: "The European Championships hold a very close place in my heart because it's where I got my first World Record.
"After the heats swim yesterday I knew I was in good shape, but for me it was a weird one as I wasn't going out there to break a World Record.
"I got to 50m and it felt so easy, then coming back all the passion, emotion and let down from the Commonwealths pushed me down that last 50.
"Breaking this record puts me and Great Britain in a great place for two years time.
"As a nation we are looking very strong in the 100m breast and that's a really important thing. And if I can go into the relay even faster who knows what could happen!"
The Brits made it a full set of medals tonight with the 4 x 200m freestyle relay team clinching a bronze in the final metres. Stephen Milne, Craig McLean, Kat Greenslade and Freya Anderson finished behind Germany and Russia in the first time the Europeans has hosted this race.
Anderson said: "It was just about getting my head down and trying to get to the wall first.
"I was doing it for my team and for the crowd who I could hear cheering."
In the heats Cameron Kurle and Holly Hibbott played their part in the race, ensuring Britain qualified second fastest.
Georgia Davies, fresh from breaking the European Record in the heats this morning, finished fastest again in the 50m backstroke. Teammate Kathleen Dawson finished in 12th.
Duncan Scott qualified in fifth place for the 100m freestyle final, Siobhan-Marie O'Connor was second fastest in the 100m breaststroke semis with Imogen Clark coming in 13th. James Guy also finished fourth quickest in the 200m fly semi-finals.
