Britain’s European squad took on their last competition before heading to the Glasgow 2018 European Championships, the Sette Colli Meet in Rome.
Georgia Davies picked up Britain’s first medal in the 50m backstroke, finishing in third place. Holly Hibbott then claimed the team’s first gold of the meet in the 400m freestyle.
Siobhan-Marie O’Connor then won a silver in the 100m breaststroke final, coming behind Yuliva Efimova who broke the Championship record. Another Championship Record fell when Adam Peaty finished the 100m breaststroke final in 58.61 and claimed gold.
In the 100m butterfly final James Guy was again held to the silver medal position by Chad Le Clos of South Africa, breaking a Championship Record in the process.
Ben Proud broke another Championship and British Record in the 50m Freestyle 21.16.
On Day 2 of the competition, James Guy picked up his second medal of the meet – this time a bronze in the 200m butterfly. Aimee Wilmott picked up a silver in the 400m IM with Imogen Clark also picking up a silver in the 50m breaststroke.
Peaty then broke his second Championship record in the 50m breaststroke – a time of 26.41.
The third and final day started with Luke Greenbank winning a bronze in the 200m backstroke. Jess Fullalove and Kat Greenslade won silver and bronze respectively in the women’s event.
In the 50m butterfly final Ben Proud had to settle for second place behind a World Record breaking performance from Ukrainian Andriy Govorov in 22.27.
In the Women’s 200m butterfly final Alys Thomas won bronze behind the Hungarian one-two of Boglarka Kapas and Liliana Zilagyi.
There was double success in the 200m breaststroke with Molly Renshaw finishing second and Chloe Tutton in third.
In his first International event since returning from injury Max Litchfield secured the final British medal of the event - a silver in the 200m IM.
The British team tied on 54.00 points with the Hungarian team and finished second only to Italy in the Mario Saini Trophy national team rankings.
Head Coach Bill Furniss said at the end of the three day meet: "We're pleased with the competitiveness of the team - we raced hard and fulfilled our objectives for the meet.
"We can now focus on Glasgow knowing we're in a good place."
Next stop for the 45-strong British team will be the Tollcross International Swimming Centre in Glasgow for the 2018 European Championships.
