Butterfly swimmer Ciara Schlosshan delivered Britain's first medal of the European Junior Championships in Israel with a strong performance in the women’s 200m event.
The City of Leeds swimmer swam consistently though the prelims and semi-finals to qualify and then stepped it up in the final with her fastest swim of the meet when it mattered most.
Gold went to Katrine Villesen of Denmark in 2:09.41, Schlosshan took the silver in 2:10.48 and Valentine Dumont of Belgium the bronze in 2:11.17. British team mate Isabel Jones finished eighth.
Britain’s swimmers competed in three other finals on day two in Netanya with Nicholas Pyle finishing seventh in the 100m Backstroke, Dean Thomas eighth in the 200m Breaststroke and a seventh place finish for the Mixed 4x100 Freestyle relay quartet of Scott McLay, James Eddy, Laura McNab, Anna Fleming.
