Day five of the LEN European Aquatics Championships 2016 started well for the British team with a further seven semi-final spots claimed.
A stacked field in the Men’s 50m Breaststroke saw the current World Champion Adam Peaty and world bronze medallist Ross Murdoch take to the pool.
Both finished in the top eight after the heats to comfortably progress into the next round and swim again to try and secure a place in the final.
“It was pretty good this morning,” Peaty said. “I was a bit nervous after having a couple of days off racing and I know there is some stuff I can work on for tonight.”
The heats session opened with the Men’s 200m Backstroke and European Games Champion Luke Greenbank finished fifth in the rankings after the heats to secure his place in the semi-finals this evening.
In the Women’s 200m Freestyle saw the maximum number of British semi-final berths secured after Camilla Hattersley and Eleanor Faulkner both finished in the top 16.
Georgia Davies and Francesca Halsall looked strong as they finished first and second respectively to lead a British attack over the European field into tonight’s semi-finals.
