Planning for April’s British Swimming Championships is continuing, as we look to hold the first fully open British Championships in three years.
As highlighted in an update across the British Swimming channels last month, the rate of COVID cases across the UK has meant our current event preparations include scenario planning for a downsized Championships, with appropriate COVID mitigation plans should they be required. The safety and welfare of athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers and spectators remains our utmost priority. We will also stay across the latest Government guidelines throughout the build-up to the event, and as always, these may have an impact on the event.
At the current time, it remains our intention to run the large-scale and inclusive British Swimming Championships intended for 2022, providing competition opportunities for senior and junior athletes and playing a key part in team selections for the year ahead.
Given the ongoing plans around the British Swimming Championships, we can also provide an update that the entry opening date has now been moved to Tuesday 15th February to ensure the clearest possible picture when the entry system opens. We appreciate the understanding and support of everyone across the swimming community as we build towards a key date in the aquatics calendar.
