Francesca Halsall has completed her 2014 season with five gold medals and a world record having competed at both the Commonwealth Games and the European Championships this summer.
Halsall has been a consistent performer through the Rio 2016 Olympic cycle with bronze at the World Championships in Barcelona in 2013 and backing up her performance this season.
Having worked with James Gibson in Loughborough for the past two seasons, Halsall has shown her talent in the water in not only her strong Freestyle and Butterfly strokes but also her improved Backstroke after winning gold in the 50m event at the European Championships.
The sprint specialist has now got her sights set on the World Championships (25m) in Doha this December before turning her attention to qualifying for the World Championships in Kazan in 2015.
Head Coach Bill Furniss said: “Fran has had a standout year winning double gold at both Commonwealths and European Championships. She took nine medals in total from the summer meets and she was part of the world record breaking mixed medley relay.
“Her times at the commonwealth games 50m Freestyle was the best ever in a textile suit and the 50m fly was a commonwealth record. She also recently lowered British records on the recent World Cup circuit.
“Her consistency over the summer racing period has been one of the most impressive parts of her season.”
