Adam Peaty set a new 50m Breaststroke World record and Molly Renshaw claimed silver in the 200m Breaststroke on day five of the European Swimming Championships in Berlin.
Renshaw swam an excellent final 50m to come back from fifth place and claim silver in a British record 2:23.82.
Renshaw said: “A medal was not on my mind, so I’m surprised that I was able to make it on the last few meters and I was able to better my personal best after this busy season.”
Having already set a Championship record in the 50m Breaststroke heats, Peaty produced another great performance in the semi-final.

Peaty said: “I didn’t expect this result even if I was close to the World record at the Commonwealth Games. It was not a perfect race due to my final touch, so I can still improve tomorrow.”
In the 800m Freestyle Stephen Milne produced a strong finish to touch in a Scottish record 7:50.64 for fourth place, while Jemma Lowe finished sixth in the 100m Butterfly.
Adam Barrett swam a 51.80 personal best to win his 100m Butterfly semi-final and progress into the final second fastest behind Konrad Czerniak (Poland).
Georgia Davies and Fran Halsall also booked their places in tomorrow’s 50m Backstroke final.
