Strong heats session on final day

The last day of action in Sheffield saw a series of strong swims as the British Para-Swimming International Meet draws to a close. 

The opening event of the morning saw a close battle between British swimmers Jessica-Jane Applegate (S14) and Bethany Firth (S14) in the Women’s 200m Freestyle.

Norwich-based Applegate recorded a points total of 826 and topped the rankings going into tonight’s World Series final, closed followed in second by Firth with 824.

The men's 200m Freestyle sees Wai Lok Tang (S14) secure the fastest time after the heats after touching in 2:01.34 and securing 879 points. Brits Jack Thomas  (S14) and Tom Hamer (S14) are in second and third place respectively. Thomas secured 854 points while Hamer scored 852 points. 

USA's Rebecca Meyers (S13) is in first place after the heats of the 400m Freestyle after scoring 857 points. Brit Maisie Summers-Newton (S6) is in second with a score of 768 after touching in 5:43.52. Ellie Robinson (S6) is third after securing 765 points and a time of 5:43.95. 

The Men's 400mFreestyle rounded off the final heats session, Uzbekistan's Dmitriy Horlin (S12 )topped the rankings with a score of 886 points and a time 4:17.97 going into this evening's final.

Horlin will be joined by Great Britain's Lewis White (S9) who scored 851 and Jacob Leach (S8) who's points totalled 805.
