Alice Tai and Reece Dunn set stunning new world records on the second night of action at the finale of the 2019 World Para Swimming World Series in the German capital, Berlin.
Having broken the S14 Men’s 200m Freestyle world record the previous evening Reece Dunn was at it again, posting an impressive 51.52 time over half the distance to strike gold. A newcomer to Para-Swimming, Dunn is quickly making a name for himself as a home World Championships in London in September draw ever closer. Jordan Catchpole also produced a solid swim to finish fifth in 54.38.
Either side of that event Alice Tai replicated the gold and silver medal winning performances she delivered on Thursday night, but this time adding a world record with a sensational swim in the Women’s 50m Backstroke.
Having to settle for a share of silver with Canada’s Paralympic champion Aurélie Rivard in the 100m Freestyle ,with both women scoring 877 points, the S8 swimmer returned to the pool having seen Dunn win gold and quickly followed suit, the 20-year-old touching in 32:01 to bag gold and write her name into the record books.
That takes Great Britain's world record tally to four in two days, with Brock Whiston achieving the same feat on the opening day.
